He ran and ran and ran, and ultimately needed a little bit of a "top up" of the tranquliser.

Lord Rannoch, our Highland bull, smashed through the thick (and, we thought, sturdy) wooden fence while we were watching to take on Ballet Cruz, an Aberdeen Angus bull. Poor move, Rannoch. This shows that horns are no match for a size and youth. Fortunately, only Rannoch's pride was injured. Zbig and Gregorz ran into the fray (sort of) and separated the two angry bulls.

It was a warm afternoon and this young Highland heifer was just moved up to the field near the house. Ross, the older bull, ran her all around the field --- and she was panting at the end of the unsuccessful courtship ritual.

Lord Rannoch is getting on in years, and suffers from arthritis. We're moving him from the back barn into the stable block where we can keep a closer eye on him. While he is slow when he walks, he does get up and walk around periodically, and was happy to follow the feed bucket to the stable block.

We moved Lord Rannoch from the upper barn into the stable so we can keep a close eye on him. The vet has prescribed a course of oral Phenylbutazone, and we're hoping this can help to reduce the stiffness from his arthritis.

My one and only photo shoot forGQ Stylemagazine. This was one week after I'd broken my back, but before it had been diagnosed correctly, so all I remember from this photo shoot was the pain.

GQ Styledid an article on "the best," and wanted to feature Kobe beef as the best beef. They sent up a photographer from London, Annabel Elston, to take pictures of me doing silly things to Lord Rannoch --- like giving him a bubble bath.

GQ Stylesent a photographer all the way from London to take my photo giving Lord Rannoch a shampoo. This was during May, after I'd broken my back but before it was diagnosed correctly. This was our first look at the large ramp built at the back of the stage of the Manchester Opera House for Ross' entrance and exit. Jack Thompson is at the top of the ramp with the "Daisy Lifter" --- a sling to remove Ross from the theater if he just wouldn't walk up the ramp. Of course, Ross was happy to use the ramp, so the "lifter" was not used.
